Adventures of week 1

LIST
  • Do something good for someone else. Help them out in some way and make them smile. Do a favor, or surprise them somehow. Start a positive energy flow.
  • Evolve or change "your look". Buy sunglasses, switch up your make up in some way, get your eyebrows shaped, change your hairstyle, maybe even get a new haircut.
  • Treat yourself to a little shopping spree, and spice up your wardrobe a bit. (might be good to set a spending limit ex: $50)

Sunday 6/19/2011
Gen and Ty are both extremely busy people. Gen works full time with kids that have Autism, then has online school to do and at the same time have a life with her husband. Ty works full time as a DCE (director of Christian ed.) which keeps him very busy too. For the first thing on my list, I decided to surprise G and T with a clean house. Sunday morning they went to church but I stayed home because i was not feeling well. I figured while I was up and they were gone it was the perfect time to do this. This place was a disaster haha..... dishes were accumulating all the way around the counter tops in the kitchen (no joke), there was dog hair all along the sides of the walls on the floor, bathrooms were a mess and we had no clean towels. After a few hours of cleaning and doing laundry, this house was looking spic and span!  When G and T came home they both told me how amazing the kitchen looked. I could see a big smile on Gens face and the relief that went along with it. Now she didn't have to worry about any of that mess or be distracted and she could finish her homework for the night knowing she had a clean house :). Tyler was able to just hang out and watch some tv before bed in a clean house.. Good feeling. I felt great because I know they appreciated all the work I did. I like surprising people because there are no expectations, not to mention how good would it feel if you came home to a clean house when you were expecting the disaster from hell haha.

Monday (6/20/11) I got my first pay check! When I got home from work, I had a package waiting on the porch... It was my mac laptop that my mom had given to me :)! Talk about a good day haha. See, this was an awesome surprise that made my day. Later I went to my friend Morgans house and brought my comp. I was able to meet his mom (Janet), who is an absolute sweetheart, and get to know her a little bit. We messed around with "Photo Booth" a bit, then went on a slight adventure in the storm. A few minor complications... stolen shirt? we will never know lol. Overall great time!

Tuesday was a fantastic day! Everything went so smoothly ha it was great. Before work drove to the bank to cash my checks. I wasn't positive they were going to be able to cash my checks but they were :) so I got those cashed and put some into savings which felt good. I was still early for work so stopped for coffee which was rather delectable if i do say so myself, and talked to my mom on the phone for a brief moment (it was so nice to hear from her). All the kids in my first class (school agers) were abnormally quiet and good haha so this made work go by especially fast. For the 2nd thing on my list I decided to schedule a hair apt., so after work I headed over to get that done. I also got my gorilla like eyebrows shaped haha. They were in desperate need of some grooming. Usually i would wax my own eyebrows but you see.. all my supplies to do that is in Utah with my room. I decided to make a pretty drastic change. I love it though so i hope you do too :) and if not haha I don't care<3 It was funny at work the next day. I had one kid ask if i was wearing a wig, and another one ask if I was a new teacher :) All the kids really liked my hair though and I got quite a few compliments by co-workers as well!

Lets just say that Wednesday was a rather eventful day...
For starters, the baby room was low on workers so I was put in there and got the thrilling opportunity of changing my first diaper. Luckily it wasn't a poopy one haha. But no worries, I got my share of that later this lovely day. Around 11:15am or so I was needed in the room with 3-4 year olds. One little boy who was not completely potty trained yet, decided he needed to go to the bathroom. He pulled down his pants and didn't exactly make it in the toilet to poop, but he did make it on his clothes and the floor. Although I am not so sure what this little boy was thinking or in need of, he walked around the classroom with his trousers still down to his ankles, tracking poop from the bathroom to his cubby. Another thrilling opportunity. I got to mop this mess up. hahahaahaha oh man. Gross, definitely but lets be honest.. Can you really get to mad about that?  lol. 3:00 rolls around so I go to my regular pre-k class with Shalyn. For some reason, all but like 2 kids decided to be on their worst behavior possible. Oh and Shalyn went home sick. Finally after work I took a good shower and scrubbed off half my skin it felt like. It was Cindy's birthday so i stopped over there for some great bbq before I picked up Jhy and Josh to tag along with me at the mall. To complete the 3rd thing on my list, I went shopping. I bought a new swim suit (regularly $100, to my surprise it came to $84 something at the cash register!), and two new lip rings. I loved the back of the swim suit haha except I am going to get some pretty awesome tan lines for sure.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday at work I we took a field trip to the pool so I got paid to lay out and play with kids for two hours.. can't complain. We only had one bloody toe, and no body drowned. Success. After work my family went out to Habachi grill for a conjoined Fathers day and Cindy's birthday celebration. By the end of dinner we were all way past full, so we took a walk around the shopping center.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday after work I went over to Morgans for a bbq and met a bunch of way cool new people, went swimming in the lake by his house and just hung out on the dock with everyone visiting. I also got to talk to my favorite Grandma Lee and best friend Emily on the phone for a while.

Saturday I was able to share Robbie and Jenna's big day with them. I went to their wedding ceremony during the day. Which was very beautiful might I add. Mandy and Brian sang a very moving song that they wrote. The flower girl and ring bearer were both kids from the day care :). Morgan and his buddy Alfred were the videographers for this very special occasion (wedding ceremony and reception). The reception was a blast... The food was amazing, toasts were inspirational, dancing was wild, and there was also a fun little photo booth for people to get their pics taken and then make a book for Jenna and Robbie. I was able to dance with a few of the kids from the daycare as well as watch them dance. Those kids can bust a move!!

Making life Happen... the prelude (June 18,2011)

  • Let me start this off by telling you where I stand in life right now. There has always been a part of me that has wanted to move out of state like my two sisters (Gentri and BreAnn), but of course, I had obligations that seemed important enough to keep me home in Utah. I was attending school, had a job, was scared of leaving my friends, in a relationship, and couldn't fathom being away from my family there. Well in the past 6 months a lot of changes took place including the following; I had graduated and successfully earned my Master Aesthetics certification, my relationship status had changed which then impacted relationships with many of my friends and me, my sister (Bre) got engaged, I was not having much luck with the job search, my mom (JoDee) had graduated with her Masters in Social Work, she had met someone that lives in Oregon and now plans to move there, My dad (Jeff) has met someone who lives in Idaho so who knows what will happen there, and my dads house that had been on the market for a few years had finally sold. It seemed as if life as I knew it was falling apart and I wanted to get out. I had written a post on facebook, just kind of in a rhetorical sense, "would love to go out of state for a while". My brother in law (Tyler=Gens husband) commented on my status telling me to "come to KANSAS!" I kept re-reading the comments I had received on that post. Finally I only had one question to ask myself..." Why don't I?" I had nothin... haha. Literally the next day I called my sister and bro to ask them if I could live with them for a while, then  I told my dad that I wanted to try it out. My mom I told when I had it all planned out. Both of my parents agreed with everything I had to say and were great support. About a month later I said my goodbyes (not easy) and took off in my altima with my best friend Danielle, my dog, a suitcase for each of us, and a cooler.

  • You see, when you only really know the two people you live with and their family, you find a lot of  "me time".  I was very busy changing addresses, insurance (that was a task), and many other moving errands. When I was not doing this, I was working out, running with my dog, dancing, playing video games, watching tv, playing around with Calligraphy, and writing. I would also attend things my family here would invite me to do. I have already learned so much through the opportunities offered here that I wouldnt not have even considered if I were back home.  My sister had asked me if I would like a job at a daycare.Without even really thinking I said yes, and before I knew it I was applying, interviewing, and  had a job at this daycare as a preschool teacher. Let me just tell you that I have never worked with kids a day in my life haha. I learn something new everyday at work about building relationships, and handling kids. It is a tough job but I most definitely think it is a fun, new adventure that is only making me a better individual.

  • A while back when I was having a blue day, I looked up "things to do when your sad" on the internet haha. Silly, maybe, but what the heck haha. I found a giant list of random, obscure things to do to help lift your mood that really caught my interest! I Would like to go through this list, take ideas from friends or anyone that has ideas, along with my own to create a list for myself . I figure this will be good to keep me occupied, trying new things, open minded and optimistic. As I do these things I am going to blog about it! If you have any ideas of your own please do tell! Other than that ha, wish me luck and enjoy!
